Wai + Pauline / Urban Second Floor Events Wedding
Pauline and Wai are 10/10 rad humans. They got ready partially-together at their home in Toronto, while still incorporating a first look in the backyard that they and their families put so much time into building. The energy was calm and intimate, and it felt so meaningful to use their new home and labour of love as such a significant backdrop on their wedding day.
After an adorable first look with Pauline’s Dad and brother, we headed into Liberty Village for some pre-ceremony portraits. Liberty never fails me, mainly because it’s my actual neighbourhood, but also because its like the Distillery, without all the people.
Second Floor Events was the venue for their ceremony and reception, and its one of my personal favourite venues. I have a couple weddings being held there in 2022, and while its proximity to my condo isn’t the main reason I love it….living 5 minutes away from a cool wedding space certainly helps ;) Pauline and Wai filled the venue with small meaningful details, like strings of photographs, personalized signs, and drinkable favours for their guests that supported the movement to #EndAsianHate. Instead of traditional readings for their ceremony, they had their friends recite poetry of a different kind - Drake lyrics. DRAKE LYRICS, PEOPLE. I am obsessed with them.
During the reception, their closest friends continued to both shower them in love and absolutely roast them throughout their speeches. Pauline then whipped out her party dress and we snuck in a few more sunset photos just around the neighbourhood of King W (maybe some of my favourites) and were cheered on by a crowd of friendly Gen Z’s. Also: you may note the portraits infront of the “Ting” sign, which is Wai’s last name. Pure serendipity. Truly, “Wai-ting For Pauline”
